Fucoidan (also known as algin/Algin/Fuquda) is a water-soluble food fiber derived from the unique slimy component of brown algae cells. Chemically speaking, it is a kind of polysaccharide body which is mainly FUCOSE. Among the many brown algae, the Okinawa sea has the most abundant and the most valuable medicinal algin. Because more than 90 percent of the world's high-quality brown algae is produced in Okinawa, and only one gram of it can be extracted from every kilogram of fresh Okinawan sea sediment, it is highly prized.
